To counteract this while checking over my shoulder before changing lanes, I pull back hard on the steering wheel with hands on opposite sides of it. In addition to keeping my car from drifting toward where I’m looking, that rocking motion also helps me to crank my head around. Sometimes, it’s the simple stuff that is the most effective.
